Determination of sectoral background oriented to total productive maintenance in a public hospital

Purpose: To determine the level of preparation for the Total Product Maintenance (TPM) of the units (intensive care, operating room, delivery room and dialysis) that use the most medical devices in the hospital. Method: Both quantitative and qualitative analysis formats were used. It has been tested by questionnaire, observation, interview and deep exam. The questionnaire was analyzed with the SPSS program, and now, correlation and regression analyzes have been performed. A survey was conducted with 390 healthcare personnel using medical devices in Düzce State Hospital. Interviews were conducted with 15 healthcare professionals. Qualitative research findings were analyzed with the Nvivo program. Findings: Differences were found among the degrees of participation in the TPM scale according to gender, age, seniority and educational status. Medical device evaluation affects the functional properties of medical devices. Maintenance-repair and cleaning in medical devices affect the functional properties of medical devices. Medical device educational evaluation affects the functional properties of medical devices. Medical device educational evaluation affects maintenance-repair and cleaning of medical devices. As a result of the qualitative analysis, it was determined that the medical device maintenance process consists of eight main themes. Result: It was concluded that the performance and efficiency of medical devices used in hospitals depends on the efficient operation of the devices, the knowledge of the employees and the institutional infrastructure.
