Abstract (EN)

In this study, the life, works, theological views of Abdullatif Harputî, one of the scholars who lived at the end of the Ottoman period, and his influence on the new science of theology are discussed. Harputî wrote important works in this field with his competence in the science of theology. Harputî's most important work on theology is Tenkîhu'l-Kelâm fî Akâidi Ehli'l-İslâm. In this work, he addressed the problems caused by social turmoil by taking into account the needs of that time. Kalam schools are divided into two parts: the mutaqaddimin period and the mutaahhirin period, which started with Ghazali. However, theology, which was influenced by the atheist philosophical movements that developed later, and the Muslim scholars who sought to respond to them, paved the way for the emergence of a third school, and a new science of theology began to emerge. Harputi is one of the scholars who influenced the emergence of this last school. He criticized and responded to the claims of materialists and naturalists that the universe is ancient. Harputi put forward important views on astronomy and based them on verses. He put forward ideas to refute the views of western movements such as materialism and positivism. Key Words: Abdullatif Harputî, Astronomy, Philosophy, Materialism, New Science of theology.
