Abstract (EN)

Cities, with their various features, have been the subject of different sciences such as sociology, history and geography. Urban history studies, which started to develop in the 20th century, continue to develop as a separate discipline with its own concepts and methods. In this study, the history of the city of Gözleve, which is in the Crimean Khanate, covering the years 1675-1700, was examined in spatial, administrative and legal context. Based on these main topics, the city was evaluated within the framework of geography, state administration, city identity, use of public space, law and daily life. In the first part, the physical features and spatial structure of Gözleve, which was defined as the coastal cities by Weber in ancient times, were discussed. In the second part, the settlement was evaluated in terms of the neighborhood and village settlements specific to the Turkish-Islamic city, and the administration in terms of the tribal aristocracy specific to the Crimean Khanate. In the third part, the law, the functioning of the court and the officials and working procedures in Gözleve were discussed through the kadi registries, the main reference source of the research. In the last part, the economic and social life of the city was evaluated through the pier trade and port hinterland, basic commodities such as slaves, horses and fur, and the concepts of foundation, family institution and heritage.
