Design and implementation of a piezoelectric wind energy harvester

Abstract (EN)

In this study, a system design and prototype have been realized by using piezeoelectric layers producing electrical energy from vibrations. In the study, the vibration properties of various piezoelectric layers have been explored. Natural vibration frequencies have been determined with the vibration experiments performed from 0.5 Hz to 25 Hz in piezoelectric layers with 3 different lengths and natural frequencies. How much electrical voltage and power they can generate at the respective vibration frequencies are measured. During the experiments, the effects of different loads on the generated electrical power have been studied, too. Within the scope of study, electromagnetic analysis of the prototype wind energy harvester has been also performed. Thereby; with the experimental data obtained from piezoelectric layers, the design and implementation of a direct energy generating system have been provided. In the nature, wind speed and all vibrational forces stem from various factors are not at natural frequency, indeed they vary continuously within a certain frequency interval, the increase of power can only be possible by a new multi-frequency harvester. To conclude, a new system which can generate energy at low wind speed and in wider wind speed band is implemented.
