Abstract (EN)

Free time left after the fulfillment of requirements in business and lifetime is reflected as a relaxation, amusement and self development of human beings and the society. One of the most important benefits of tremendously developing technological improvements is the 25% increase in free time in relation with the time spent in business life. As a result of this great amount of increase in free time, human beings began to programme recreative activities for benefiting their free time and self developing meanwhile.Recreative activities permit human beings to realize the activities actively or passively, alone or within a group, in close or open area, in any time and the activities are for young-old, male-female, provides people resting, develoment and amusement, they they do not have any limitations for the target group or t,ime.By joining the activities, human beings have the opportunity of expressing their selves, showing and developing the power inside them, increasing their creativity, protecting their mental and physical health. This causes increase the importance and requirement of preparing free time programmes for our country too.The popularity of basketbol in our country began to increase in 1993 when Efes Pilsen club basketball team played final in Koraç cup in Europe and finally when the team brought the cup in our country. On 2000 the same team played Final Four and 2002 Europe championship was played in our country. In this championship our team was ranked as second of Europe.Afterwards Turkish basketball players became playing in NBA and Europe. Another important development for the popularity of basketball in our country was our gaining the right of organization of 2010 world championship in our country. Basketball is observed by being the second popular branch with ratings after football. However, federations, clubs and sponsors should protect the interest of spectators and increase the number of spectators by making good analysis of the situation. In this study, the situation was defined and suggestions were presented.
