Dr. Burhan ARIKAN The aim of this study was to find an alternative solution for biological wastewater treatment systems which cause problems at the conventional applications, therefore Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) is selected from different kinds of managing and structural technological modifications, by this technological process we can be able to see Sequencing Batch Reactors success on managing and both the nitrification and the denitrification success and treatment suitibility in our region laboratories and so we can gain SBR technologies to our region suitability. For this purpose at the laboratory full automathic Sequencing Batch Reactor was set up, and the raw waste water which contains molasses as a carbohydrate source was treated biologically, and throughout the study at first bounding with selected optimal managing (timing) criterias, the F/M ratio were changed and the changes at the sludge index were studied. Besides nitrogen elimination and the success of the nitrification, denitrification and the chemical oxygen demand (COD) were studied. In this way general biological treatment level was researched thoroughly. The results of our study are ; Chemical oxygen demand : % 93.7 Total nitrogen demand : % 85.8 Ammonium nitrogen demand : % 93.8 The average of nitrate nitrogen was seen 22.5 ug NO3" N/ml at the study Sludge index : The average of index was seen 71.5 ml/g at the hole study Key Words: SBR, Nitrification, Denitrification, COD, Sludge Index II
