Özet (EN)

Salt has a key role in the human life, and at industry such as chemistry, transportation, agriculture and water conditioning and about 208 million tonnes is the salt production of the world as 2004. Tekel Çamaltı Solar Salt Plant is the one of the biggest producer of salt in Turkey with 25 percent of Turkey?s demand. From the establishment at the end of 19th century the plant has been operated with mostly manpower. At 1990s modernization process has been taken into consideration by administration for salt harvesting which was operated with old technique and causes significant economic loss. This progress has been failed because soil at the harvesting pond surface was not strong enough to bear this harvesting machine. The objective of this study was to define the stabilization method which may be applied at field, and required conditions for this stabilization. In order to achieve this aim soil stabilization method has been chosen as densification of surficial soil and blending of in-situ surficial soil with sand. In order to determine in-situ field conditions according to California bearing ratio (CBR) values, correlations between existing dynamic cone penetrometer (DCP) test results and CBR results have been used. In order to improve soil properties test specimens were prepared with field soil and sand at different six sand contents (0 percent, 10 percent, 20 percent, 30 percent, 40 percent and 50 percent). For California bearing ratio (CBR) test specimens have been prepared at modified Proctor optimum water content and exposed to modified Proctor energy at different mixing and soaking options.
