Letter as a literary kind and it is functionality in Turkish lesson

Letter is more than communication tool that realize communication of someone who are far away from each others; it attributes a kind of document that gives information about historical, political events and their sociological features. Also by giving information about famous philsophers, government staffs, life of that period?s writers, their charactes and their writing works performing duty of autobiography. The history of letter which is a writing type is rather old. Among us letter won importance after administration reforms(1839). Moreover it gives us information about that period?s grammer when( the period) it was written.Comparing to other written types the letter is written with natural, honest, familiar language. Because of that letters are communication tools that people wanted to tell their wishes, feelings, thoughts plainly. When we examine the letters samples we can feel this spirit. Writing letter is not a random work. Writing letter has some rules. It should be adapted to these rules to write a beautiful and effective letter. If we give some examples to these rules; we shouldn?t forget that keeping the letter paper clear, regular is necessary, writing readable, beautiful is necessary, an act of addressing should be choosen according to distance degree.Even kinds of letters show difference according to person to person; they are separating into special letter, official letter, business letter, literary letter and electronic letter. Among these type of letters love letters which are in the coverage of literary letters and special letters carry weight with great importance.In writing special letter we shouldn?t ignore the talent of woman. Especially the best love letters ?with all sensibility and all sincereness-written by women. For that reason we try to emphasize especially on our letter writing writers.In western literature letter found life ın different periods with different methods. But in subject of development of letter it is open that they are effected from each other and took sample from each other. Whenever we look at the Turkish National curriculum we become aware of the importance of the handle of letter subjects in Turkish lesson.Because a writing type letter has a great importance in the angle of student?s talent in writing, reading and also in expressing themselves. At the primary schools in Turkish lessons letter is handled with different activities in lesson books from 1st. Class to 8th. class. We handled interested works done in the each classroom about letters separetely.Shortly letter is because of it is a written type, it is the most permanent communication tool from past years to now, also it is an important document, a historical resource, a developer tool in subject of reading and writing.Key Words: Letter, Turkish Education, Literary Genre, Language, Education
