Study Of The Schema Modes According To Emotion Regulation Strategies And Life Satisfaction Of Individuals

The aim of this study is to investigate schema modes according to emotion regulation strategies and life satisfaction of university students. The study group of this research; In the 2018-2019 academic year, a total of 489 students aged over 18 years of age were selected at the Avsar Campus of Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University in Kahramanmaraş. The research was conducted in a (descriptive) mixed method model as it aimed to determine the existence (relational) of the change between two or more variables and the existing situation. Therefore, both relational and descriptive methods are used in this study. Data were collected using the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ), Young Schema Inventory-Short Form3, the Satisfaction with Life Scale and the Personal Information Form prepared by the researcher. In order to determine whether the dependent variable scores of the groups formed according to the levels of independent variables discussed in emotion regulation strategies differ significantly, t test was used for unrelated samples. In order to determine the relationship between early maladaptive schemas, emotion regulation strategies and life satisfaction, Pearson Moments Correlation analysis was performed. Regression Analysis was performed to determine the predictive levels of mood regulation strategies and life satisfaction variables. According to the results of the research, emotion regulation strategies and life satisfaction predict early maladaptive schemas. In addition, early maladaptive schemas differ according to emotion regulation strategies.
