Establishment of the individual's career goals and factors that determine the goals

?Career Management? concept, one of the most important issues in Human Resources Management, supports the individual in developing his/her career by integrating the organization?s and the individual?s goals. Individuals are affected by certain factors as they are determining these career goals.This study, which is titled as ?Establishment of the Individual?s Career Goals and Factors that Determine the Goals?, consists of theoretical knowledge and practical research. In the theoretical part; the career concept, career management, career planning, and career development concepts are explained and in the last section the process of individuals? career goal establishment and the factors that affect this process are researched.The research is carried out by taking a poll of the employees who attended the training at the Yapı Kredi Training Center so as to determine the factors that designate career goals.Individuals who are one of the main aspects of the organizations? success may have different objectives throughout their careers. While some of them work for advancing in their profession, the others work for gaining more money. Obtaining more respect, higher status, prestige, and personal development are some of these objectives, as well. When they are choosing their professions and determining their goals, individuals take steps directed at these objectives by taking the criteria that are important for them into consideration.Organizations should attach importance to development of their employees? knowledge and skills and their efficiency, and support employees by guiding their developments to be able to adapt to global developments and changes and gain competitive advantage. As long as the employees? objectives are compatible with organization?s objectives, the efficiencies of the employees increase, and this in turn ensures the success of the organization.
