The relationship between the satisfied levels of the individuals with the activities attended in their free time and the health outcomes that the individuals perceive: The example of kilis province

This study aims to examine the relationship between the demographic characteristics of individuals who are members of sports centers, their level of leisure satisfaction, and the health output they perceive in recreation. 356 individuals attending various sports centers in Kilis province participated in the research in 2021. As a data collection tool, the Leisure Satisfaction Scale (CIS) which was developed by Beard and Ragheb (1980) and adapted into Turkish after making its validity-reliability study by Gökçe and Orhan (2011) and the Perceived Health Outcomes in Recreation Scale (RASCS) developed Gomez et al., (2016) and adapted into Turkish by Yerlisu Lapa et al., (2017), were used. The scale consists of 40 items in total. In the process of obtaining the data related to the study, face-to-face survey method was applied. In the analysis of the data, it was evaluated through the IBM SPSS 26.0 program. Before performing the analyses, the reliability test of the data was performed and it was determined that the sample had a normal distribution. The studies were concluded by applying the frequency and percentage tables, the Kolmogorov Smirnov test, the t-test for paired groups, the variance (anova) for multiple groups, and the Tukey test to determine the difference between groups. As a result, when the sub-dimensions of the scale of perceived health outcomes in recreation were examined, it was found that the Cronbach Alpha value was the highest in the experience sub-dimension (α = 0.972), while it was the least in the sub-dimension of preventing a worse situation (α = 0.914). In the leisure satisfaction scale, Cronbach's Alpha value was found to be highest in the psychological and aesthetic sub-dimensions (α = 0.9), while it was the least in the physiological and relaxation sub-dimensions (α =0.87). In addition, a positive relationship was found between the satisfaction levels of individuals for the activities they participate in their free time and their perceived health outcomes.
