What are the teachers'opinions about group teaching methods effectiveness including the learning areas in turkish curriculum at first level?

The main aim of this study to investigate the teachers? opinions about group teaching methods? effectiveness including the learning areas in Turkish curriculum at first level. The study was realized in Esenler in stanbul in 2005-2006. 1291 primary school teachers who work in formal primary schools were chosen as a population of the study . Besides, the 330 primary school teachers who work in 16 formal primary schools were chosen as a sample group in Esenler. The questionnaire was prepared through the main aim of the study by the researcher. It contains the teachers? opinions about group teaching methods effectiveness including the learning areas in Turkish curriculum and it was used to collect the data. The data were analysed using frequency and percentage analysis. As a result of this study, according to primary school teachers, all group teaching methods can be used in these learning areas in Turkish curriculum at first level. On the other hand, the primary school teachers think that some group teaching methods are more effective in these learning areas. Key Words: Turkish curriculum, learning areas, group teaching methods.
