Abstract (EN)

Introduction: Interventional sedation and analgesia (ISA) is a frequently preferred application in painful procedures in the Pediatrics Department. The depth of sedation should be monitored in patients undergoing GSA. In addition to clinical scales, sedation depth can also be determined by digital Electroencephalography (EEG) monitoring such as 'Bispectral Index'. In our study, correlation of EEG monitoring (Bispectral Index™) (BIS) with 'Ramsey Sedation Scale (RSS)', Brussels Sedation Scale (BSS)' and Mischigan University Sedation Scale (MUSS) were used to monitor the depth of sedation in patients who underwent ISA mostly due to endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures. We aimed to determine the correlation between. Method: 33 consecutive patients who applied to Fırat University Medical Faculty Pediatrics Service between 11.04.2021 and 30.07.2021 were included in our prospective, analytical study. Sociodemographic data of the cases, vital signs at the 5th, 10th, 15th and 20th minutes before ISA, at the beginning of the procedure (initiation of the procedure) and afterwards, Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS), BIS, RSS, BSS and MÜSS values were recorded. We also determine the corellation between BIS and RSS, BSS, MUSS values. Results: The mean age of 33 patients included in the study was 8±9, and the female/male ratio was 1.5. The lowest mean BIS measurements were observed at the beginning of the procedure (92±19) and at the 5th minute (79±17). Then 10-15-20. minutes (79±16, 77±19, and 79±17) were measured. When the basal BIS and RSS values of the cases were examined, no significant correlation was found between them (p: 0.446). When the averages of BIS and RSS values in all time periods were compared, no correlation was found between them. There was no significant relationship between BIS and BSS and MUSS values (p:0.938, p:0.219). However, in our study, a significant relationship was observed between RSS and MUSS (p:0.007). Conclusion: There was no significant relationship between BIS monitoring and RSS, BSS and MUSS scales in patients who underwent ISA in the pediatric service.
