Working capital factors affecting the return on equity of companies listed in BIST basic metal index

The aim of this study is to determine the working capital factors that affect the return on equity of the firms listed in the Borsa Istanbul Basic Metal Index. Therefore, a data set covering the period of 2008-2018 was formed and various factors, which might affect the return on equity of the firms listed in the BIST Basic Metal Index, were analyzed by panel data method by Eviews 9.0 software program. The results of the analysis have shown that the return on equity of the firms listed in BIST Basic Metal Index are positively affected by the variables namely; asset turnover ratio and total debts to total equity ratio, in contradiction to current ratio and sales growth factor which represents the growth oppurtunities.
