Abstract (EN)
The aim of the study was to observe the cursive writing studies of the first graders during the first reading, writing processes; considering whether they took preparatory writing classes at the nursery school and to evaluate these observations in parallel with the teacher?s opinions. The observations of nursery school students and first graders at the primary education and the evaluation of cursive writing studies in respect of several variables (sitting, paper holding, pen holding, writing way, binding, writing rate, spelling and readability) during the first reading, writing processes, based on teacher?s opinions, were carried out in this study. In the first chapter of the study,: ?Problem Definition?, ?Related Studies?, ?Problem Statement and Sub-Problems?, ?Aim?, ?Importance?, ?Hypothesis?, ?Restrictions?, ?Definitions? and Abbreviations? of the study took place. In the second chapter ?The Method of the Study? was mentioned. Therefore, respectively: ?Study Model?, ?Population and Sample?, ?Data Collection?, ?Validity and Reliability Studies?, ?Data Analysis? were demonstrated. In the third chapter, ?Findings and Comments? related to sub-problems took place and in the fourth chapter ?Conclusions? and ?Suggestions? depending on these conclusions. The researcher, prepared preparatory activities and worksheets of the cursive writing for the experimental group and applied these activities and worksheets during the nursery school education within the scope of a program (48 course hours). In order to collect data, ?Rubric of Cursive Writing Skill? was developed. In the experimental ve control group, data were collected by using observation and interview techniques. T-test was used for quantitative data. Observation and interview conclusions were reported with the suggestions of the researchers and experts. It was observed that almost all of the students in the experimental group sat optimally for the cursive writing teaching, knew how to hold the pen and in which angle they were to hold the paper, how to turn the page and started writing consciously from left to write and top to down and had no difficulty in binding the letters. The students in the experimental group were observed to write faster, be more successful in spelling and write more readably compared to the students in the control group. It was observed that the students in the control group had difficulties in developing these skills.
