Abstract (EN)
In this study, olive stone which was grown as agricultural product at Aydın region, was being milled and was being screen analysed to define average particle size. This raw material was modified with a biomaterial known as chitosan. After this step of process, it is created as beads in concentrated NaOH and methanol solution. Then created bead was cross linked with gluteraldehyde to finalize last process of functionalization. Afterwards the bead which was washed with ethanol, was dried at room temperature. Modified olive beads were used as biosorbent for the removal of malachite green and methyl orange dyestuffs. For adsorption studies, the effect of parameter such as adsorbent, initial concentration and contact time was analyzed, respectively. The optimum contact time for adsorption of dyestuff on modified olive stone was found to be 150 minutes. Asthe amount of adsorbent , increased, the amount of dyestuff adsorbed increased and reached to the equilibrium with 0,08 grams. The effect changing dyestuff concentration on adsorption was observed and Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models were applied with equilibrium data. As a result, it can be seen that the olive stone modified with chitiosan prepared as new adsorbent can be applied for dyestuff removal from aqueous solutions and used as an alternative bioadsorbent.
