Özet (EN)

The number of motor vehicles is increasing worldwide. Although electric vehicle technology has recently tended to progress, its superiority over internal combustion engines is not sufficient. Today, as the number of motor vehicles increase, so does the need for energy. The energy requirement for internal combustion engines is obtained by petroleum products. Considering the increase in the number of motor vehicles, oil reserves are depleting rapidly. For this reason, the science world has begun to explore alternative fuel possibilities. In researches, biodiesel fuel which can be produced from vegetable or animal oils has been emphasized. Biodiesel is an alternative diesel engine fuel that contains oxygen, that is sulfur-free, non-toxic, biodegradable and renewable in nature. They emit less carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons than diesel fuel. They can be used in diesel engines without the need for any additional devices. The performance of diesel engines is significantly affected by the spray system characteristics and the quality of the fuel injected. In this study, the effects of standard diesel fuel and corn oil methyl ester (biodiesel) mixtures on combustion characteristics in a single cylinder diesel engine are investigated experimentally. Tests were carried out with corn oil methyl ester fuel added to the standard diesel fuel with 2.5 Nm, 5 Nm, 7.5 Nm and 10 Nm torque at 210 bar and 230 bar injector pressures in 10%, 20% and 50% rates of volumes.
