Effect of the problem based learning applied to student achievement in biochemistry to ?coenzyme? issue

Importance active learning methods has increased at student trained today that world start with new inventions to new day and keep up with this changes has became basic needs. One of these methods to the problem based learning provides meaningful learning without misconception by taking students to the learning center and trained students this ways are better adapted scientific change.In this thesis study was investigated effects of the problem based learning applied ın bıochemıstry lesson ?coenzymes? ıssue that was applied and built by us to deparment of Medical Laboratory Tecniques student?s learning achivement, creation of misconception and attitude of the biochemistry lesson. The sample of the study consisted of 48 students from I. and II education in the Department of Medical Laboratory Tecniques in Health Service Vocation High School Kırklareli University. In each of the two groups 24 student was randomly assigned to experiment group and the other 24 student to treatment group. Treatment was carried out in the second semester of 2009/2010 academic year for 7 lessons hours. The data was obtained through ? Foreknowledge Test? ?Coenzymes Achievement Test?, ?Attitude Scale? and ?Semiconstructive Interview Scale?.Foreknowledge Test administered to students before investigation. Student achivement were thougt is enough through test score but question- answer addition preparatory lesson was done. Attitude scale as a pre-test was administered each two group. The subjects was taught to the experiment group by the methods of problem based learning, to the control group by traditional method by the researcher. At the end of the study, the achievement test, semiconstructive interview scale and attitude scale administered to students as a post?test.The data of the research analysed with the programme of SPSS 8.00. At the end of the study was concluded that applied problem based learning has effected students academicachievements and attitude to biochemistry lesson positively and has blocked students misconception.Keywords: Problem based learning, traditional teaching, coenzymes, misconception
