The determination of a candidate biology teacher's knowledge about medical herbs and the research about the use of a visual education method's investigation

Thesis Name: The determination of a candidate biology teacher?s knowledge about medicalherbs and the research about the use of visual education method?s investigationAuthor Name: Murat AKTAŞABSTRACTn this research, the knowledge level of the candidate biology teachers aboutmedicinal herbs has been determined .The research was applied on 90 students in their 3rd,4th and 5th year in the department of Biology in the education faculties of Gazi Universityand Hacettepe University studies in this research.After this level determination, the students were seperated in to two groups which arecalled ?Control Group? and ?Experimental Group?. ?The test of Ability on LogicalThinking? and ?The Test of Success in Medicinal Herbs? were used to determine their pre-knowledge level.The students in Control Group were eforced to Exposition method and the studentsin Experimental Group were forced to visial Education method.The reliability criterion of Cronbach Alfa was used to determine the reliability of theSuccess Test which was propered by the researcher.The data obtained were evaluated in line with the hypotheses with the use of SPSSsoftware. The scores of the logical thinking test and pre conceptual test were determined withthe use of Kruskal Wallis test (H test) and the comparison of the achievements and successaverage scores was made using Wilcoxon Labeled Rows and Mann Whitney -U test.As a result of this research it is determined that visual Education method were moreeffective and the grades of the students in the Experimental Group were higher.Keywords: Medicinal Herbs, Classical Lecturing Method, Visual Education Method
