Determining the technostress levels of biology teachers: The example of Diyarbakır province

The aim of this study is to determine the technostress levels of biology teachers. In addition, it was desired to investigate the effects of various variables on the formation of technostress. Technostress: It can be expressed as the stress situation that technology creates on individuals. In this research, quantitative data analysis was conducted using the Descriptive Survey Model. This study was based on 99 teachers working in private high schools and state high schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in the central districts of Diyarbakır province in the 2022-2023 academic year. Demographic information form and Teachers' Technostress Level Determination Scale were used to reach the data in the study. With the help of this scale and data form used, it was concluded that the technostress levels of biology teachers were generally at a moderate level. Teachers' technostress levels were tried to be determined by using 5 sub-factors: for the profession, for the learning-teaching process, for the technical subject, for the personal information and for the social events. Various independent variables affecting the formation of technostress have been studied. Among these variables, it was determined that there was a difference in terms of seniority, technology use period and technology use for educational purposes, but there was no difference in terms of gender, learning level and age. It has been determined that the level of technostress gradually decreases as the duration of technology use and the duration of use of technology for educational purposes increase, and the level of technostress increases as the seniority increases. There was no difference in terms of other independent variables. Key words: Technostress, Teacher, Technology, Stress, Biology
