Word of depression coming Latin etymon is ?depressus?; meaning depress, pull, exhausted, pained, mopish, dishearten and deaden. Even today, validity of the Hippocrates said ?if sadness takes longer, it is turn out melancholy? is still usefull. Today we know as severve depression Hipocrates gives the name of melancholy, ascribed to black bile. And also Ibn-i Sina described depression with interesting case examples in middle ages. Depression is a state of low mood and aversion to activity that can affect a person's thoughts, behavior, feelings and sense of well-being [1]. Depressed people may feel sad, anxious, empty, hopeless, worried, helpless, worthless, guilty, irritable, hurt, or restless. They may lose interest in activities that once were pleasurable, experience loss of appetite or overeating, have problems concentrating, remembering details, or making decisions, and may contemplate or attempt suicide. Insomnia, excessive sleeping, fatigue, loss of energy, or aches, pains, or digestive problems that are resistant to treatment may also be present [2]. Nowadays, due to the stress brought about by life depression has been increasing. For this reason, antidepressant drugs have become more important.Synthesis ofnewantidepressants, finding new derivates is very important. This study, targeting synthesis of new compounds which show antidepressant and biological activity. This study planned as four steps. The first step is the synthesizing of starting materials which have located in two separate antidepressant substituent groups that still used in medicine today, N-[4-((3-trifluoromethylphenyl)piperazine-1-yl)butyl]-7-oxabicyclo-[2.2.1]hept-5-ene-2-exo,3-exo-dicarboximide and N-[4-(2,3-dichlorophenyl)-piperazine-1-yl)butyl]-7-oksabicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-ene-2-exo,3-exo-dicarboximide. The second step is including hydroarylation reactions of these tricyclic imide derivatives with aryl(hetaryl) iodides. On the third step, we performed cycloaddition reactions of starting materials with N-methyl glisine and ninhydrin to obtain new spiro-1,3-indandionolylpyrrolidine derivatives. The last step is including structure characterizations of all new compounds by FTIR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR (APT) and GC-MS techniques, respectively.
