The effect of laying performances and restricted feeding during growing periods of quails

Nazım ULUOCAKProf. Dr. Ahmet TESTİKProf. Dr. Abdurrahman POLATIn this study, the effects of restricted feding applications in growing period onthe egg performances during laying period were studred.In growing period 211 quails (105 female + 106 male) were used as animalmaterial. Quails were fed together in first 3 weeks. After 21 days, they were dividedinto 7 groups. The first group was fed every other day. Between 21th- 28th days; thesecond group was fed with diluted feed between 21st - 28th days (5 quercus hay % +95 broiler feed %), the third group between 21th- 28th days was fed every other day,4th group was fed with diluted feed between 28th- 35th days, 5th group was fedevery other day between 28th- 35th days, 6th group was fed with diluted feedbetween 28- 35 days while 7th group was fed ad-libitum as control group. At the endof the trial, quails were transferred into individual laying cages; Maturity ages andweights, laying performance traits, ratio of fertility; Effect of restricted feeding wereexamined. Differences between live weights of quails at 10th week were foundsignificant (P<0.05); 6th group had higher performance (334.72 ± 8.32 g) while 2ndgroup had worst (293.83 ± 5.52 g) between all trial groups. Differences between (%)egg yield of groups were found significant (P<0.01); The highest egg yield werefound in 4th group, (72.43 ± 4.01 %) while group 6 had lovest yield (62.15 ± 4.60%). Restricted feeding did not effect average egg weight significantly (P>0.05). Feedefficiency of egg yield was not affected significantly. Sexual maturity and weightamong groups were found statistically significant (P<0.05).
