Abstract (EN)

Objective: The aim of this descriptive study was to determine the relationship between donor characteristics and kidney transplant recipients' perceived anxiety. Method: The study was carried out with 330 kidney transplant recipients (261 live, 69 cadaver donors) who agreed to participate in the Organ Transplant Clinic between February and July 2019. Data were collected using a demographic characteristics questionnaire developed by the researchers based on literature review and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). Data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS v. 23). Results: Participants had low state anxiety and moderate trait anxiety scores. There was no significant difference in state anxiety and trait anxiety scores between kidney transplant recipients from living and deceased donors (p>0.05). Participants experiencing problems with nutrition/fluid intake had higher trait anxiety scores. There was a positive and moderate correlation between state anxiety and trait anxiety scores in both kidney transplant recipients from living donors (r=0.625, p<0.001) and those from deceased donors (r=0.654, p<0.001). Kidney transplant recipients from living donors' trait anxiety scores were positively correlated with negative income (incomeKeyword: Anksiyete = Anxiety ; Böbrek = Kidney ; Böbrek nakli = Kidney transplantation ; Canlı donörler = Living donors ; Doku donörleri = Tissue donors ; Donörler = Donors ; Hemşirelik = Nursing ; Kadavra = Cadaver
