Abstract (EN)
This study was analyzed in order to examine the effects of unemployment, poverty, female labor force participation rate and Gini coefficient variables on interregional divorce rates in 26 sub-regions in Turkey. For this purpose, panel data analysis method was used in the study covering the period of 2004-2019.The aim of the study is to contribute to the literature in terms of covering a long period, regional differences and dealing with Turkey in general. According to the results of the analysis for Turkey in general, it has been determined that poverty rates have a statistically significant and positive effect on divorce rates. As the level of poverty increases in Turkey, divorce rates increase. Unemployment rate, female labor force participation rate and Gini coefficient variables did not have a statistically significant effect on divorce rates. On the other hand, according to the results of the panel data model in which the interaction variables are included, it has been obtained that the female labor force participation rate, unemployment rate, poverty rate and Gini coefficient variables differ on the divorce rates regionally. It has been determined that the variables of unemployment rate between regions, female labor force participation rate, poverty rate and Gini coefficient have a statistically significant and positive effect on divorce rates. As a result, it has been concluded that as unemployment rate, female labor force participation rate, poverty rate and Gini coefficient increase, divorce rates increase.
