General causes of divorce are regulated in the article 166 of Turkish Civil Code (Law No. 4721). General causes of divorce are regulated under the heading of the breakdown of the marriage and it also includes uncontested divorce and impossibility of joint life. Specific causes of divorce are regulated in the articles between 161 and 165. At the end of the divorce, a number of results affecting parents and children may occur.
