Psychological resilience as a predictor of divorced women's life satisfaction

The aim of this study is to investigate the psychological resilience as a predictor of divorced women's life satisfaction. On the other hand, whether there exists a significant differences in the life satisfaction of women in terms of some variables (age, educational attainment, income level, having a child or not, number of children) are also investigated. The sample of the study consists of 163 divorced women living in Adana and ranging in age from 23 to 67. "Connor-Davidson Psychological Resilience Scale" is used in order to measure psychological resilience of divorced women. "Life Satisfaction Scale" is used in order to measure life saticfaction of divorced women. Moreover, a Personal Information Form prepared by the researcher is used in order to reach demographic information. Data are analyzed by SPSS 17.0 packaged software. Multiple Regression Analysis, Independent Samples T-Test and Kruskal Wallis are used for data analysis. The results reveal that psychological resilience of divorced womenhas a significant but small impact on their life saticfaction. Besides, sub-dimensions of psychological resilience scale such as tenacity and personal competence, tolerance to negative situations and spritual tendency as a whole have small effects on life satisfactions of divorced women. Other findings acquired show that while there is no significant difference between age and life satisfaction of divorced women; there is a significant difference between life satisfaction and the variables of educational attainment, income, having a child, number of children.
