Abstract (EN)
Brecht aesthetics is an aesthetic understanding developed by the German theater director, playwright, poet, and theorist Bertolt Brecht. It can be accepted that Brecht's aesthetic understanding concerns not only theater but also all arts. Investigating the origins of Brecht's aesthetic theory and aiming to reach depth of meaning, this study questions and discusses how the aesthetic theory based on Brecht's epic theater approach can find a counterpart in the field of plastic arts, especially in the field of painting, from an interdisciplinary perspective. In this study, an art-based research method was used, and based on the literature review, the thesis author organized a painting exhibition. The entire research was implemented as a project study and supported by the Anadolu University Scientific Research Projects Unit. As a result, it has been revealed that Brecht aesthetics is not limited to theater art but can be considered as a method that encourages critical, structural, and audience participation in contemporary visual arts. In this context, the research contributes to the literature as an interdisciplinary study that establishes a connection between art theories and practices and translates theoretical approaches into practice. Furthermore, by providing an opportunity for the reconsideration of concepts such as narrative, critique, and participation in the field of painting, the interdisciplinary scope of Brecht aesthetics is revealed in the field of painting
