Abstract (EN)

This study aims to set forth the changes that Brexit shall cause in the institutional structure of the European Union. In this context, the institutions of the European Union were studied first. The composition, evolution and the current structure of the institutions are tried to be explained in accordance with the founding treaties. Afterwards, the Brexit process is discussed. United Kindgdom decided to leave the European Union after the referendum held in 23 June 2016. As a result of this decision, the negotiation process began with invocation of Article 50. In this part of the study, it has been seen that the negotiated withdrawal agreement was rejected in the United Kingdom parliament and the Brexit process has continued. At the end of this study, how the European Union institutions are structurally affected by the withdrawal of a major Member such as the United Kingdom. At the end of the study, it is asserted that some instiutions shall undergo structural changes at varying rates. Additionally, it is revealed that the financing gap in the European Union budget would be large.
