Abstract (EN)
Fire detection and extinguishing systems have a very important place in the measures to be taken against fire in solid fuel power plants built with large investments. In this context, it is necessary to design appropriate detection and extinguishing systems for those regions by examining the operation mode and sections of the said power plant. In this study, Kemerköy Thermal Power Plant and Yeniköy Thermal Power Plant were examined and a study was carried out on fire detection and extinguishing systems. During the study, local regulations, EN, NFPA and FM Global standards in some parts were taken into account. Both power plants have similar sections and the types of detection and extinguishing systems have been determined by analyzing for each region. In this context, automatic water extinguishing and detection systems in sections such as conveyors, outdoor transformers and turbines, automatic foam-water extinguishing and detection systems in sections where flammable and combustible liquids are used, automatic gas extinguishing and detection systems in electricity, panel and transformer rooms, fuel oil storage tanks. Both automatic water extinguishing and detection systems as well as automatic foam-water extinguishing and detection systems have been designed in regions such as theoretical calculations of these designed systems are listed in this thesis. As a result of the examinations and designs, the system types, water and foam needs, sprayer types, detection device types of the regions were determined and described in detail under the relevant headings.
