Investigation of Buket Uzuner's stories and novels in the context of ecocritism

Buket Uzuner, one of the writers of modern Turkish literature, started her writing career with a story and then continued to produce autobiography, travel writing, essays and novels. In addition to the topics covered in the novels and stories, the inner worlds of the characters she created and the real life outside coincide. These topics are presented to the reader based on real spaces and events. When the thematic lattice in the narratives is taken into consideration, the relationship between the changing human profile and the environment with modernized life is frequently studied. In addition, the place of women in contemporary life and the historical process with nature are among the outstanding topics. In this sense, the author has a unique place with her differences in language and style, especially with the issues she touched on, along with modern and postmodern narrative techniques. With the life style that has changed and transformed from past to present, the relationship of humanity with nature has reached a destructive dimension more rapidly. Environmental awareness and she with a remarkable awareness of the whole world concerning industrialization, global warming, population growth, migration, urbanization, climate change and human as any kind of war and the issues that may bring the end of nature creates narratives taking Turkey to the center. On the other hand, despite all these negative examples, the author recalls the respect of the shaman culture to nature and the peaceful way of life. In addition, it criticizes the patriarchal culture and mentality that tries to dominate nature and exalts women who exhibit the same characteristics as nature. In this thesis, the relationship between man and nature in his stories and novels; eco-criticism and ecofeminism theories based on environmental consciousness based not only on literary text but also on all works of art.
