Examination of Buket Uzuner's Su, Toprak and Hava trilogy in the context of values education

The aim of this research is to examine Buket Uzuner's Su, Toprak and Hava trilogy in the context of values education. In the research, descriptive survey model based on qualitative research was taken as basis, and document analysis technique was used as a data collection technique. In the research, the books named Buket Uzuner's "Uyumsuz Defne Kaman'ın Maceraları/ SU, Uyumsuz Defne Kaman'ın Maceraları/ TOPRAK, Uyumsuz Defne Kaman'ın Maceraları/ HAVA" were examined based on the root values in the Turkish Language Curriculum (2019). In the analysis phase, the works were read and the expressions reflecting the root values were recorded. The frequency of the root values reached in the works was determined and a different table was created for each work. Then, the obtained data were interpreted and reported together with the sample sentences quoted from the books. According to the results obtained in the research, it has been determined that the root values of self-control, love, respect and responsibility are the most prominent root values in the works. In addition, the root values of benevolence, patriotism, justice, friendship and patience have come to the fore in different works. In addition, when the books are considered in general, it has been determined that the frequency of transition of the root values of justice, honesty and patience to other values is less. When the works are considered in terms of teaching values, self-control, love and responsibility in Uyumsuz Defne Kaman'ın Maceraları/SU; self-control, respect, love and responsibility in Uyumsuz Defne Kaman'ın Maceraları/TOPRAK;in the work titled Uyumsuz Defne Kaman'ın Maceraları/HAVA, they were determined that the values of self-control, respect and love could be used in the teaching.
