Abstract (EN)
In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the performance/achievement of secondary school students in mathematics course with fuzzy analytic hierarchy process, which is one of the multi-criteria decision making processes. The achievement scores obtained by using Chang's Rank Analysis Method, one of the FAHP methods, were compared with the classical report card grades. In a hypothetical classroom, students' written exam grades in the mathematics course, participation in course activities and other criteria we identified in our research were simulated. The data obtained from the rating scales prepared with the classical 100-point scoring system were transferred to the fuzzy importance scale. In this way, students were evaluated separately on the basis of each criterion. As a result of these evaluations, success scores were obtained with FAHP. In these scores, each of the criteria determining the success score of the students showed different levels of impact due to their hierarchical positions. In this study, it was seen that the achievement scores obtained with FAHP are more comprehensive and suitable for more sensitive evaluations than the traditional method. This method was found to be more objective than the traditional method of determining report card grades against the negativities that may arise from the personal opinions and judgements of the evaluator. This method, which can be used to determine student achievement as an alternative assessment method, can be applied in different courses and disciplines. It is thought that it can be applied in many areas such as guidance activities, financial decisions, resource management, personnel performance determination in the field of education.
