Especially it was preferred a fuzzy linear programming which is a soft calculationmethod, instead of hard linear programming. The design problem is solved by constructing anoptimal decision function as a α-level-cuts approach using membership function. Thedisplacement, tensile stress, buckling stress and minimum size constraints are considered in theformulation of the design problem. The α-cut approach is illustrated on plane and space trusses,frame systems design problems and the results are discusses.Keywords: Structural system, α-level-cuts approach, fuzzy linear programming, optimum design
