Considering the enormous size and specific challenges of the health sector, the importance of the manageability and sustainability of the technological systems to be used in this sector will be seen once again. One of these health systems is remote patient monitoring systems, which provide significant convenience to both patients and health personnel. Technological developments in recent years allow improvements in remote patient monitoring systems. It is possible to develop more flexible patient monitoring applications, especially by using the advantages of cloud computing and microservice technology that is an important software architecture. This thesis focuses on the design of a remote patient monitoring system that takes advantage of these new technologies. Its most important feature is that it uses edge computing infrastructure that will optimize cloud system load and cost. In addition, the manageability of the software to be executed on the proposed system is provided by container technologies. Microservice-based software architectures have been preferred because classical monolithic software architectures are not very efficient for edge computing. In addition, the problem of how to keep and manage the data of the patient and other auxiliry services on distributed microservices is also discussed within the scope of this thesis. For this, firstly, what kind of data management model can be used for microservices has been examined and real-time tests have been carried out for candidate model types. The model, which has been successful according to the results of these tests, has been used in the proposed remote patient monitoring system. The vital functions of the proposed system are controlled by circuit breaker services, which is also another microservice mechanism. The system, which includes both patient-side and healthcare institution-side services, is designed for family medicine and patients within their scope of duty. Performance tests have been carried out for different scenarios using end devices and the applicability of the system has been proven.
