Abstract (EN)
The ability to accurately determine the metal contents of crude oils is necessary for reasons ranging from the need to identify the source of the oils (Ni and V) to the removal of components that might inhibit catalysis during refining or impact negatively on the environment during hydrocarbon combustion. Determination of the petroleum source is very important to prevent oil smuggling. The aim of this thesis is a comparison of element concentrations in crude oil samples taken from different sites in Turkey and Iraq. For this purpose, the crude oil samples were collected from a few locations including Duhok, Zakho, and Erbil from Iraq, Batman, and Adiyaman from Turkey. Sample Digestion was performed by microwave (MW) oven-using HNO3 and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE™). After that, the digested samples were diluted for further analysis. The metal concentrations were determined by using Inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). For quantitative analysis, calibration graphs were obtained. From the results obtained, it was found that Vanadium V concentrations are in ranges of (0.082 – 24.490) mg/L, while Nickle Ni concentrations are varying between (1.028 – 10.740) mg/L.
