Burcu Karadağ's life and her contributions to Turkish music as a woman ney player

The aim of this research is to examine Burcu Karadag's life and her contributions to Turkish music as a woman ney player. In line with the purpose of the research, document analysis method, one of the quantitative research methods, was used in the research. Written, visual and audio sources about Burcu Karadag were scanned and these sources were accessed. The documents were transcribed, the interviews about the artist were reviewed, the information in the sources was compared with each other, and finally the information was analyzed and the data were used. In addition, an interview was held with Karadag herself and the audio recording of the interview with the artist was taken and this audio recording was transcribed at the end of the meeting. Burcu Karadag's contributions to Turkish music were examined and analyzed under ten sub-titles. In the research, the artist contributed to Turkish music education, combined his works with many important musicians, gave concerts in the country and abroad, represented Turkey in international studies, published albums and books, composed compositions, set an example as a woman ney player, was not satisfied with his talent and succeeded. It has been concluded that he believes in and works in this direction, contributes to music therapy with the sound of ney, and makes young people love ney by breaking stereotypes. This thesis has the feature of being the first thesis on a woman neyzen. It is thought that the study will be a resource for ney educators, ney performers and students, and it is expected to contribute to increasing the interest in the ney and listening to the ney in the society.
