Relationship between passive transfer failure and neonatal disease in calves in Burdur province

Abstract (EN)

The aim of the study was to determine if calves had reached passive immunity after birth and to determine if they had any disease during the neonatal period. They are open to infections in neonatal period and can be easily infected by bacterial, viral and parasitic factors. In our study, 50 calves were used in the center and villages of Burdur province. In addition, close to 50 cows were identified from the E-breeding program and the breeder was contacted and 48 hours after birth, blood was taken from the calves and centrifuged. TP (Total protein) and GGT (gammaglutamil transferase) values were determined in the laboratory of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Veterinary Faculty Animal Hospital. however, there was no statistically significant difference between these values. Increased serum levels were stored at - 28 ° C and it was determined that there was no statistically significant difference in immunglobulin G (IgG) values in Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Central Laboratory. It was observed during the neonatal period in the calves used in our study and it was recorded whether they had any disease during this period. In 18 of 50 calves (18%), E. coli, in 6 (33.3%) Cryptosporidiozis, in 1 (1) Rota virus (5.5%) and in 1 Corana virus (5.5%) were detected. One of these calves died. The results of the Elisa test showed that all calves had access to passive immune transfer.
