Determination of nutritional status in wallnut orchards in burdur region

Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to determine the nutrional status of the walnut orchards by soil and leaf analysis in Burdur province. In this context, soil and leaf samples were taken from 20 different orchards and 2 different soil depths (0-30 cm and 30-60). Soil and leaves were analyzed. pH, EC (Electrical Conductivity), texture, CaCO3, organic matter, nitrogen, available phosphorus, changeable potassium, magnesium, calcium, sodium,available iron, zinc, manganese and copper were analyzed in soil analysis. Nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron, zinc, manganese and copper contents were analyzed in walnut leaves. Soil and leaf analysis results were compared according to critical limit values and nutritional status and nutritional problems of existing orchards were studied to determine. According to the results of the analysis, the majority of the soils were found loamy and sandy loam, soil reaction (pH) was slightly alkaline and neutral. Salinity problems were not found in soil samples. Since the majority of the soils are excessive and high calcareous, it may cause some problems related to agriculture. Organic matter was also found to be low humus and poor humus. The soils that include the nutrient elements were determined sufficient for total nitrogen and that was determined variability for phosphorous and potassium. Changeable calcium concentration was determined sufficient or medium, Mg concentration generally was determined sufficient, Na concentration was determined very low values. According to the micro element results recievable iron was found deficient and manganese copper and zinc were found sufficient. According to the leaf analysis total nitrogen, phosphorous, copper and zinc were found deficient, potassium, magnesium, calcium, manganese and iron were found sufficient in walnut leaves. As a results; high lime contents what are in soil seems likely to cause plant nutrition problems in the walnut orchard of Burdur region. Also organic matter levels of soils are insufficient so that fertilization should be given importance to improve the soil properties. The phosphorus, potassium, zinc and copper contents of soil should be provided to reach sufficient levels and these deficiencies of plants need to be remedied. So that the productivity of plant (walnut) and the soils of region where is grown walnut may be possible to increase.
