Abstract (EN)

One hundred and ninety seven first physicians participated in our study. Approximately 15 min questionnaire consisting of 25 questions was applied. The questionnaire was filled with in person interviews by the researcher. The criteria for participation in the study were to be volunteers to participate in the study and to be working in the first place, while the exclusion criteria were determined not to volunteer to participate in the study. A total of 197 physicians (120 male, 77 female) participated in the study. 160 of our attending physicians are general practitioners, 21 specialist physicians and 16 assistant physicians. 105 of the physicians participating in the study do sports, 87 physicians don‟t do sports. 32 out of 105 physicians do not exercise regularly. One physician was diagnosed with DM, 31 with HT, 5 with CAD.152 physicians smoke. There was no significant difference between male and female physicians when prescribing exercise. The results show that, young physicians had higher knowledge of prescribing exercise, physicians who have training on prescribing exercise were more confident in prescribing exercise. Assistant physicians are less confident in prescribing exercise. However, there was no significant difference between the attitudes of the specialists, practitioners and assistant physicians. We found that physicians who do sports were more confident in prescribing exercise. There was no significant relationship between physicians' knowledge level and writing exercise prescriptions. We found that physicians who are confident about prescribing exercise issue more written exercise prescriptions. We found a significant difference between the physicians who examined their patient‟s ≥10min and other groups (≤5min, 6-9min). We found that the physicians who examined ≥10min tended to evaluate all patients in terms of exercise counseling. It was found that physicians who allocated their patients for a longer period of time, who were trained in prescribing exercise and were confident in this issue tend to provide exercise counseling to all patients and give written exercise prescriptions.
