Bursalı Mehmed Tahir is an important author and mystic who witnessed both the last periods of the Ottoman Empire and the first years of the Turkish Republic. While continuing his education in military schools, his inclination towards Sufism increased and he started to seek a sheikh. First, he joined Harîrîzâde and entered the path of Melâmî religion, and then, with the death of his sheikh, he joined Muhammed Nûrü'l-Arabî and completed his course with him. He served in various official positions such as the directorate of junior high school, battalion commander, member of the Court of War and investigation officer. Tahir from Bursa, who died on October 28, 1925, was buried in the Aziz Mahmud Hüdâyî Dervish Lodge in Üsküdar. The last book of Tahir, which has about eighteen works, and at the same time the largest in terms of volume, is Osmanlı Müellifleri. This work is the product of twenty-five years of work. The internal titles of the work, which was published in three volumes; It is in the form of Mesâyih Chapter, Ulemâ Chapter, Şuarâ Chapter, Etıbbâ Chapter, Müverrihîn-i Osmâniyye Chapter, Riyâziyyun Chapter, Coğrafiyyûn Chapter. In this study, the Osmanlı Müellifleri were compared with other sources close to the past and today, and the accuracy of the information given about the Sufis in the Meşâyıh Faslı was evaluated and the information found to be erroneous was corrected.
