Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, it is aimed to determine the effects of three different carrier system materials (laminated wood beam, post tensioning concrete beam, steel beam) commonly used in interior spaces on the perceptual evaluations of the participants. For this purpose, the large-span olympic swimming pool venue, where various sports activities such as swimming are held by a significant part of the people, was chosen as the research environment. Then, virtual experiment spaces using three different carrier system materials were modeled, and the perceptual evaluations of the physical environmental factors of these virtual spaces were measured with the help of a detailed questionnaire. As a result, the olympic swimming pool space, where laminated wood material is used on the carrier system by the participants, is warmer, bright, attractive, spacious, intimate, close, well planned, free, simple, peaceful, exciting and sparse than the spaces using post tensioning concrete and steel materials was detected. In addition, it was determined that the participants of the other professions who did not receive design education received the lowest positive values for all adjective pairs, while the architects who received design education received the highest negative values. In addition, it was determined that architects got more positive values for wide/narrow and large/small adjective pairs compared to engineers, while they got close values for well-planned/poorly planned and plain/complex adjective pairs. On the other hand, it has been determined that men and young people perceive the physical environment factors of virtual Olympic pools more positively than women and middle-aged people.
