R&d facilities done in big size enterprises and the importance of patent/utility model protection

AbstractThe political, economic and technological developments experienced in recent years have transformed the world into a global market place. Companies have been competing intensively with each other in a developing and changing world. The best way of pulling ahead of other companies in competition is to be developed and produced their own original products by companies. Rising of power of competitiveness of Turkey?s economy will be eventuated only by gaining ability of producing and developing new technologies. This will be possible with giving due importance to research and development (R&D) and establishing R&D culture. Moreover it is necessary to apply patent protection for protecting the products at the result of the R&D facilities and competing at the market by gaining monopoly right on products. Briefly patent protection is used in commercialization of products. It is clear to be given necessary importance to R&D facilities for being shareholder and involving with foreign and domestic markets on technology field. Moreover it is given deserved importance to patent protection that is one of the most important implementations for commercialization of products because yield can not be gotten so long as not protecting the R&D facilities.The big size enterprises should be leader in this subject according to their economical power. In this study R&D facilities done in big size enterprises in Turkey and importance given to patent protection in commercialization of these facilities were analyzed. For this reason, in the globalization of world for being shareholder according to technological development in domestic and foreign markets and developing Turkey?s domestic industry R&D facilities done by big size enterprises, trends of R&D facilities in the world and how much importance is given to the patent protection in Turkey that is one of the most valuable tool in the commercialization of the products developed from existing studies or new products formed as a result of R&D facilities, implementations of patent protection in Turkey and world were examined. Moreover viewpoint to this subject of employees of R&D departments of big size enterprises facilitated in Turkey was analyzed.
