Abstract (EN)
The Seljuk State has an important role among the medieval Turkish-Islamic states. The Khorasan region, which they dominated, became a geography where many scientific activities took place at a time when the Islamic world was in turmoil. Among the institutions where scientific studies are carried out, there are mosques and masjids, madrasas, libraries, observatories, inns, hospitals and the houses of scholars. On the one hand, in these institutions, students were trained, on the other hand, scientific activities were carried out and works were copyrighted. During the Seljuk period, many scholars were educated in the geography of Khorasan in almost every field such as fiqh, hadith, tafsir, theology, mysticism, language and literature, poetry, physics, mathematics, astronomy and medicine. İn the Seljuk period, sectarian tendencies were prominent in many Muslim countries. However, in the Seljuk period, the Nizamiye madrasahs were mainly based on Shafi'i sect, but there are many madrasahs belonging to other sects in the Khorasan region. Some of these madrasas operated even during the Harizmshah era. The interest and support of the Seljuk Sultans in science played an important role in all these scientific developments. It is seen that Khorasan scholars are involved in political and social life as well as scientific life. They took part in various government positions and many scholars were ap"pointed as ambassadors. Scholars have close relations with Sultans and state officials. For this reason, some scholars have influenced state politics. There were some destructions by the nomadic Oghuz towards the end of the reign of Sultan Sencer. However, the scientific accumulation built by the Seljuks did not disappear. On the contrary, many madrasahs were repaired thanks to the Harizmshahs; many scholars and students who had moved away from Khorasan have returned. Therefore scientific activities are continuied. In this study, we have tried to benefit from all the books and articles related to the subject in the light of contemporary sources and modern literature.
