As the number of systems that create data continues to increase, the ability of algorithms to scale up or down is crucial for the proper management of data. This is referred to by the research and development movement known as "Big Data." The National Institute of Standards and Technology defines big data as "a collection of vast datasets principally in the qualities of volume, variety, velocity, and/or variability that need a scalable architecture for effective storage, manipulation, and analysis" The primary purpose of this thesis is to develop a distributed scale-out storage system-based platform for big data analytics. This will make it possible to achieve low latency, massive scalability, and fault tolerance.
