Abstract (EN)
The main purpose of this study is to determine the geographical conditions that support sesame production in Chad, to determine Chad's position in this global market by analyzing sesame production and trade around the world, and to analyze the constraints affecting sesame production in Chad. The significance of the study lies in comprehending the physical and human geography factors influencing sesame production in Chad and utilizing this knowledge to formulate sustainable agricultural policies. Furthermore, analyzing the role of sesame in Chad-Turkey trade is crucial for international trade relations. Regarding the distribution of global sesame production, African countries like Chad, Sudan, and Tanzania contribute significantly to world sesame production. Similarly, Asian countries including India, Myanmar, and China possess notable production capacities. Regarding the size of the sesame market, it is expected to increase from USD 7.48 billion in 2023 to USD 8.50 billion by 2028, indicating a 2.60% growth. The findings, obtained through data analysis, offer a comprehensive examination of how geographical conditions, along with economic and demographic factors, impact the sesame industry. Consequently, issues such as geographical conditions in sesame production, trade status, constraints, and the feasibility of recommendations were addressed. These outcomes serve as a valuable resource for understanding the present status and future potential of the sesame industry in Chad. Additionally, evaluating the study in terms of future perspectives presents a crucial opportunity to identify potential development areas in the sesame industry and address challenges within the sector.
