Wim Wenders' Road movie triology in the context of journey theme and alienation in the contemporary film narration

"I'm at home nowhere, in no house, in no country." It can be said that these words of Friedrich Munro, the European director of Wim Wenders' The State of Things, shed light on Wenders' road movies. It can be thought that Munro's words give information about both Wenders' road movies and the content of these movies. It can be said that the content dealt with in road films is a problem of alienation, a reality of the modern age. One of the problems of the modernity period is alienation. In the modern era, where traditional values have lost their values, artists have sought new ways of expression to reveal the problem of alienation of modern people. As a result of this search, they presented the works in which alienation was considered as a content with a new form. In the art of cinema, directors have entered formal searches to show the alienation problem. As a result, they tried to reveal the alienation problem with a new film narration other than the traditional film narration created with the narrative pattern of the hero' journey. Wim Wenders is one of these directors. In the trilogy of road movies, Wenders had addressed the problem of alienation in the context of journey theme, with contemporary film narration and with a unique style. In this study, the bond between alienation in the context of journey theme and contemporary film narration has been tried to be revealed. For this purpose, in the study, films named Alice in the Cities (Alice in den Städten), False Movement (Falsche Bewegung) and Kings of The Road (Im Lauf der Zeit), which constitute the trilogy of Wim Wenders, were selected. The bond between the contemporary film narration and alienation in the context of journey theme were examined. The content of the films was analyzed by anthropological method and the forms of the films were analyzed by the new criticism method.
