Contemporary photography and autobiographical memory

Human beings are faced with the visual and auditory effects of the events that have occurred around them since the First Age. These testimonies, experiences, memories and memory in the footsteps of the place. Therefore, these experiences and testimonies constitute the autobiographical memory of man. This person first described his experiences, experiences and testimonies by taking his brush and pen in his hand. Then comes the photo. Throughout the vanishing ages, a person who wants to have a meaningful past is now writing, painting or taking photographs. The effort is an opportunity and opportunity for him to establish a continuous course and then to dump his memory. People have immortalized their individual representations with the quality of their works. This action is the greatest proof of his experience. Subsequent generations read and follow them. In this context, autobiographical memories reach these days by overlapping them as layer-by-layer sedimentary layers; lay the foundations of cultural and social memory construction. This master's thesis, titled "Contemporary Photography and Autobiographical Memory", is based on defining the above mentioned layers of memory. Within the framework of a historical system, it is aimed to clarify the effects of autobiographical memory on the construction and formation of autobiographical memory by the artists who represent their own representations of literature, visual arts and photography and their selected works. In this thesis, the names and their works that have been crowned with the works of autonomy and cultural memories that have been crowned with the works of "individual representation" have been examined and the effect of visual arts on the construction of autobiographical memory has been examined. In addition, within the scope of the thesis, a performance study titled "Core Memory" consisting of literature, visual arts, photographs and videos has been developed and the power of photography has been re-questioned in an intertextual context in the construction of our autobiographical memories.
