Abstract (EN)
In this study, the "Abject Concept" introduced by Julia Kristeva was discussed. Abject is defined as a repulsive and alien entity that surpasses human existential boundaries, and it represents things that people reject but also find attractive. Its use in art is intended to disturb the viewer, exhibit things that are unacceptable in daily life, and question social norms. Abject Art focuses on the relationship between the object, space, and the viewer in a work of art. The materials and techniques used by artists in their works have demonstrated the diversity of the expression of "Abject Art" concept. The place of the Abject concept in the art world and its effects on the object, space, and viewer relationship in abject art have been examined. The darker aspects of art, which include feelings of disgust and revulsion, have been explored within the scope of this study. Additionally, the current position of Abject Art in the art world and how this concept is used in contemporary art pieces have been discussed. The purpose of this study is to explain the Abject concept and examine its use in art. Furthermore, the study emphasized that art is a powerful means of communication and how Abject Art can utilize this communication power. Ultimately, Abject Art is a striking and controversial aspect of art, and it is an important tool that can be used to create works that question social norms, provoke thought, and disturb the viewer.
