Abstract (EN)

This study has been prepared with the aim of investigating the artistic expression possibilities of glass material in installations from the 20th century to the present day in contemporary art, and addressing the inadequacy of Turkish-language sources on the historical context of contemporary art. The first part of the five-part research includes the purpose of the research, the methodology used, as well as its scope and limitations. The second part examines the emergence and development of the concept of installation in the historical context of contemporary art through early examples. Additionally, this section investigates the changes brought about by installation in the art field from 1919 to the present day. The third part of the research categorizes the artistic expression possibilities of glass material in glass art under four separate headings and discusses transparency, fragility, optical effects, and plasticity through the works of artists. The fourth part evaluates the place of glass material and its artistic expression possibilities in installations through the works of artists. The final part includes personal applications within the context of the thesis. In the application section of the thesis, installations addressing the topic of dyslexia were created, paying attention to artistic forms of expression in glass.
