Shirin Neshat's works in the context of contemporary art activism

"Shirin Neshat's Works in the Context of Contemporary Art Activism" thesis study; aktivist approches in art before and after 20. Century, the role of art movements like Pop Art, Performance, Feminism, Situationist International and Graffiti in Activist art will be explored. In continuation, activist art occurring since 1980's and Shirin Neshat's art will be investigated. Activist art and artists and how they have been affected by their existing environment will be addressed. In the changing World order all incidents' reflections in art would be transformed as a response. Wars, economic relations, globalization, openning borders of counteries and resulting tourism and trading, artists out of European and American artists circle start to react and stablish their Place in the art world. The final part of this collection consists of Rahileh Rokhsari Azar's art works exercising aktivist approach against religious discrimination, Mevlana (Rumi) and Semazen image which belongs to Semah rituals and its peaceful attitudes which has exceeded the country borders. Based on Rumi's narretives, the message of unity, equality and tolerance would be spread to connect, bridge and heal the tention between East and West.
